Studio Owner and Lead Instructor
Teresa Binish has been teaching dance for over 25 years, primarily as a staff member of Barbi Lee Dance Arts as well as other local studios. She is passionate about sharing dance with all ages from our littlest dancers who just want to move, to our advanced dancers wanting to be challenged and encouraged. Assuming ownership of Barbi Lee Dance Arts from Barb Lotsberg is a perfect opportunity to continue the strong curriculum and philosophy, but bring new ideas to make it her own.
Her dance background started as a youth, then included high school dance team and musical theater. In college she studied under various teachers, enjoying varying performance opportunities. She enjoys attending dance conventions and professional performances for continued inspiration.
As a mother of four - two girls and two boys, Teresa has experienced all ages of child of development, appreciating the gifts and joys that each one brings.
Allie Kalkman started dance lessons at age 5 as a student at Barbi Lee Dance Studio. Allie graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in Dance. During her time at Gustavus she appeared in works by Jill Patterson, Sarah Hauss, Philip Flickinger, Melissa Rolnick, and Stephan Koplowitz. Allie is also a founding member of SEVEN DANCE, an emerging dance company in the Twin Cities. She has participated in the Minnesota Fringe Festival, including presenting her original choreography. She loves the dance studio community and is excited for all of her classes this year!
Kristi Delarwelle began dancing at four years old with Barbi Lee and participated in the Nutcracker and the competition teams. She graduated from the University Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in physical therapy. During her time in college, Kristi continued to take dance classes through private studios in Wisconsin and at Viterbo College. She is currently a pediatric physical therapist and works with children with development delays, disabilities, and injuries. At 7 Movements Dance, she teaches the adapted dance classes in cooperation with Capernaum Pediatric Therapy.
Rachel & Claire Binish
Rachel and Claire, the daughters of Teresa, grew up surrounded by dance. They developed a passion for dance while studying at Barbi Lee during their youth. This was evident as they participated in Nutcracker, many performance opportunities and high school theater. Both daughters have been teaching for years, including many summer days at dance camps. Rachel is a graduate of the U of MN and a Chemical Engineer by day and Claire has an Elementary Education degree from St. Catherine University, St. Paul. Both love being a part of the 7 Movements Dance instructors staff.
